The Best Advice for Roller Skating Dresses
Posted on - 30th July 2021
Going roller skating is so much more than just putting your skates on and hitting the rink - you want to look your best when doing it!
Here at Olympique, we have a number of skating dresses suitable for roller skating, ice skating and figure skating. Each piece is designed to stretch with the user as they perform their routine with stunning designs available including stunning metallic foiled materials, Lycra and lace.
For this blog, we will give you advice on what and what not to wear when roller skating.
What should you wear when roller skating?
The main aim here is comfort and mobility. You want to wear comfortable clothing with plenty of give such as shorts, sweatpants or athletic pants. For those wishing to use jeans, they will need to be very well broken in.
You will also need to wear socks, but make sure you aren't using any old pairs. For skating, thick tall socks are the best choice. Ideally, your socks should come up at least as high as the cut of your skate boots to prevent blisters. Finally, protective gear such as a helmet, knee pads, elbow pads and wrist guards are a good idea.
What you shouldn't wear when roller skating
Do not wear anything restrictive with jeans being generally a little too stiff and hampers your movements. Short or tight dresses or skirts need to be avoided as they are too restrictive.
Whatever you decide to wear, you will need to be able to freely bend your knees. Also, you don't want to wear clothing so loose that it gets caught in your skates. Ensure that none of your clothes (including drawstrings) come close to touching the ground.
It is also worth considering potential hazards if you fall over. Big buckles, lots of zippers or anything else metal on your clothing needs to be avoided as they can become potential hazards that can make a small fall hurt even worse.
